Dave Donohue

Dave Donohue has over 45 years of emergency services experience, serving in Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He has served in roles from fire fighter, EMT and paramedic through department head with emphasis in emergency response, hazardous materials, and training. He has also served in the US Coast Guard, in both active and reserve roles, having obtained the rating of Chief Petty Officer in three different rates. He has been deployed as a responder and as an incident management team member to a variety of emergencies and events, including hurricanes, winter storms, terrorism and hazardous material incidents, and National Special Security Events.
He has been involved in training and education of emergency responders for over 35 years, most recently as a training specialist overseeing the Administrative Science, Training, and Terrorism/Hazardous Materials programs at the National Fire Academy. Over the years, he has designed and developed over 30 courses that have been delivered in-person, self-study, or mediated on-line. He also served as a deputy section chief at FEMAs National Response Coordination Center. He has written for a variety of industry publications and has presented at numerous conferences including the IAFC Hazardous Materials Teams Conference, Florida Hazardous Materials Symposium, and Hot Zone.
He holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration, Graduate Certificates in Educational Technology and Design and in Disaster Science, Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Studies, Associate Degrees in both Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services Technology, and Certificates in Weapons of Mass Destruction and in Curricula Design. He is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program, has held Certified Emergency Manager credential, and is a Master Exercise Practitioner. In addition to completing training for multiple ICS positions, he has been credentialed as a Type 3, or higher, all-hazards safety officer, planning section chief, division/group supervisor, task force leader, situation unit leader, and resource unit leader.
