Karyn Boxwell

Karyn Boxwell, GSP 
Senior Consultant, Emergency Management Solutions (Texas Division)
Ms. Boxwell has 20 years of experience in maritime safety and security, rescue, and response operations. She enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1993 and served in leadership positions such as Executive Petty Officer and Operations Officer. She has a depth of knowledge of small boat and shipboard operations and is an expert in search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, marine safety and inspections, and maritime homeland security operations. Ms. Boxwell also served as a USCG Tactical Boat Operator performing both domestic and overseas port security operations.
Ms. Boxwell has an extensive background in Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) and Emergency and Disaster Response. She acted as on-scene commander during hurricane Rita where she coordinated or contributed to the rescue of over 1,000 citizens. While serving as Site Safety Officer for marine incident response operations she implemented medical plans, fatigue standards, and personal protective equipment guidelines and coordinated treatment of acute exposures. She is an experienced instructor who has taught First Aid and CPR, HAZWOPER, and general health and safety to hundreds throughout her career.
Since 2015, she served as HES on a drillship in Deep Water Drilling and Exploration in the Gulf of Mexico and overseas at a Cargo Offloading Facility overseeing the safe discharging of heavy cargo from ships and barges.
She is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
Ms. Boxwell’s military awards include: the USCG Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medals, Commandant Letters of Commendations, Good Conduct Medals, Overseas Service, Armed Forces Service, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Humanitarian Service, Special Operations Service, Sea Service, and numerous unit awards. Insignias include: the Boat Forces Advanced Operations, Coxswain, and Cutterman.
She has a Master of Science in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management from Murray State University, Bachelor of Arts in Emergency and Disaster Management and an Associates of Arts in General Studies from American Military University. She holds the Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
