Senior Consultant, Emergency Management Solutions (Texas Division / División Español)
Johanna Abad is a bilingual communication specialist with over 20 years of experience in law enforcement. She has worked in the Public Affairs Division for the fifth largest police department in the United States for the last eleven years with experience as a Public Information Officer and as a Police and Community Services Liaison.
Senior Patrol Officer Abad is an active instructor at the police academy. She coordinates large scale Public Affairs events and partnerships with private sector companies. She participated in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas as a member of the Joint Information Center (JIC).
In 2008 during Hurricane Ike she assisted during the coordination of the first inner city point of distribution “POD” system for residents affected by the third costliest storm in the United States. Officer Abad has developed and provided training in media relations and crisis communications and provided assistance and guidance to other police departments regarding best practices.
As a Senior Consultant with the PENTA Consortium, Johanna Abad was involved in a wide array of projects including service as a Project Officer for the Harris County (Texas) Multi-Agency Gap Analysis.
Senior Patrol Officer Abad holds a Master Peace Officer License from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
