Colonel Jim Beesley is a retired educator and trainer who is a multi-lingual combat veteran of multiple deployments in Europe, Asia, and Africa as well as response to disasters in the Continental United States. He has extensive experience in the areas of logistics support and crisis management.
He is a Companion of the Company of Military Historians and a member of the Reserve Officers Association, serving on national committees. He is a life member of the Special Forces Association, the National Infantry Association, and the Texas State Rifle Association.
In 2005, he was selected to serve as the Defense Coordinating Officer and Assistant Area Commander for the Hurricane Katrina Mega-Shelter Operations Area Command that provided mass care services for over 44,000 displaced persons as well as general assistance to another 105,000 persons who evacuated through the Area Command’s operational facilities.
Colonel Beesley’s military awards include two Legions of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, six Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and the Commander’s Award for Public Service as well as numerous unit awards. He has earned the Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Army Parachutist badge and the Excellence-in-Competition Badge (Rifle) as well as Parachutist Badges from France, the United Kingdom, Jordan, and South Africa. He was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal by the Harris County Fire Marshal in 2015. He has been invested with the Order of St Maurice, the Order of DeFleury, and the Ancient Order of St Christopher. In 2015 he received the Silver Beaver from the Boy Scouts of America, the highest award a local council can bestow on an individual.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Missouri Western State University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. He also has teaching certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.
