Doug Rohn is a 35-year veteran of the fire service and has been a HazMat responder for 26 years. Doug retired from the Madison Fire Department in 2015. Doug held the positions of firefighter, Driver Operator, Training Officer, HazMat Team Coordinator, and Lieutenant. He currently is an Assistant Chief with the Verona Fire Department. Doug has 27 years of career service and 28years of volunteer service.
Doug was an adjunct fire instructor for Madison College for 25 years. Doug currently teaches HazMat for AAR/SERTC, the Illinois Fire Service Institute, and Wisconsin’s Regional Emergency All-Climate Training Center.
Doug has received specialized training on Railcars, Crude by Rail, Radiation, Lab Response, Waterway Response, WMDs, and Explosives. Doug’s Certifications include: Firefighter III, Fire Instructor III, Inspector, Driver Operator, Confined Space, HazMat Technician with Specialties, EMT-B, and Fire Officer.
Doug has written curriculum for the Madison Fire Department, Madison College, Wisconsin Emergency Management, the Wisconsin Air National Guard, and the Illinois Fire Service Institute. He has contributed test banks for two HazMat textbooks.
Doug is a frequent speaker at conferences, having presented at the International Spills Conference, the Hot Zone Hazardous Materials Conference, Continuing Challenge, the Coldzone, the Reno Fire Show, the Virginia Association of Hazardous Materials Responders, and his own conference, the Wisconsin Association of Hazardous Materials Responders (WAHMR). Doug is a Board member and Past-President of WAHMR.
Doug is affiliated with the Wisconsin Association of Hazardous Materials Technicians, Wisconsin Fire Inspectors Association, Wisconsin State Firefighters Association, Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin, International Association of Firefighters, and Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association.
